I’ve often wondered how the Romans really felt when they saw the gladiators go at it in the Colosseum. Did they have other feelings other than lust for violence? I sure they must have, but the contests were the norm and were a great diversion from their daily cares. We have a modern equivalent every weekend – and I do enjoy watching! But I feel some guilt.
