Should This Sport be Banned?

Football Players

I’ve often wondered how the Romans really felt when they saw the gladiators go at it in the Colosseum.  Did they have other feelings other than lust for violence?  I sure they must have, but the contests were the norm and were a great diversion from their daily cares.  We have a modern equivalent every weekend – and I do enjoy watching!  But I feel some guilt.  Is it right to watch many of these young men injure themselves, particularly their fragile brains?  Time magazine reviews some interesting data forwarded to my by Al MacRae.  Is it time for us to change to a less violent pastime?
